Our Goal Is to Preserve Function and Restore Your Health with Laparoscopic Colon Surgery
The third most common of all cancers, colon cancer can start as small, fleshy growths in the wall of the bowel. These polyps are detected during a colonoscopy and removed during minimally invasive surgery. Most polyps are non-cancerous, but some may develop into cancer.
Drs. Abando and Basa robotically/laparoscopically remove the cancerous section of the colon and, if possible, reconnect the healthy sections so that you can maintain normal bowel habits. We also surgically treat rectal cancer, another type of colorectal cancer.
Laparoscopic colon surgery is an effective choice for treating diverticulitis, a condition that can cause abdominal pain, nausea and fever. Surgery treats complications such as abscesses, perforations, bowel obstructions or multiple attacks.
